Our "... IN THE CITY" exhibition opening on Wednesday went well, everyone happy and relieved, and why not a touch proud too. See the invite with dates and location a few blog posts back.
This is the work I put in, a collection of found objects, almost just as they were found, I've only added a few tiny touches of paint. These shapes and colours remind me of winter here in Melbourne. If you click on the image, you'll see it in a larger and more detailed form.
"A week of winter light:
Seven somethings from discarded things,
mangled remains, windy rubbish from the streets.
Did August grow these?
A contemplation on the darkest, deepest,
yet most blindingly bright of seasons,
and on the personal notion of beauty."

A mood sketch for the work, from our catalogue; black, gold, the winterbare outlines of all kinds of urban veins.
